Wordless Wednesday Just Below.
(Edited: I am moving this to the top, because I need a third winner AND no one answered my questions!!!)
I have a question for you my adorable internettys with vast and varied knowledge. As mentioned on my last TT, I am not sleeping well. Part of it is stress and a large part of it is the goshawful mattress that I have. But I am not sure that the pain that keeps me awake is just the durned ol’ mattress. I have always had some problems with my back. I have mild scoliosis and every few years my back just goes kaput. Lately I have added some kind of severe hip pain to the mix also.
So here is where you come in. I need your input. The first is chiropractic care. I have always been deathly afraid of chiropractors (my mother was always sure that chiropractors would break your neck). A long time ago, (I was pregnant with MacD) I worked for one. He was a ‘certain kind’ of chiropractor that does adjustments gently with a little “clicky tool” instead of the big cracking kind of adjustment. There was a name for it, but I cannot for the life of me recall it. Does anyone know? He really helped me.
Secondly, can you share with me your experience with acupuncture? I don’t know much about it. Does it help with pain? Could it help with my hands, back and hip? Is it painful? Does insurance usually cover it?

Ever seen that movie Pay It Forward? The premise is how I have lived my life. So I could not pass up the chance to do it here! Mishelle over at Secret Agent Moma says:
“I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this Pay It Forward exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.”
For the first 3 people that respond I have a handmade goodie I’ll send you. This goodie will come after January 1, 2008.
What do you have to do?
1. Respond on this blog and give your email address so that I can contact you for your address.
2. Place this on your own blog and also send the first 3 people that respond something.
It does appear that I made it in the top three comments at her place, but even if I didn’t I would still love to do this. So I am. Same rules apply. My gift will probably definitely be something crocheted, cuz that is my specialty. So comment and Pay It Forward.

I have no idea how I found this, but once I started reading (I started at the end and worked my way forward to current time) I could not stop. I mean I just read and read. No breaks. I don’t really know what to say or think, it just evoked a tremendous amount of different emotions….what do you think? One thought I had-she is an incredibly writer for her age…

Also Mishelle tagged me for a fun little doohickey which I will do some time this week. *smiles*

I’ll bite on the pay it forward! But, that afghan you are making for Share A Square doesn’t count! LOL. Sorry I’m not out and about much, girl. I think about you, though…doesn’t count does it.
This is cool. I’m excited. Gotta hit the button so I’m in the top on the comments.

Alright, I’m in. It will take me a few days to get it up on my blog but count me in.

Sure I’ll do the pay it forward (or do you already have 3?). But I do have a bone to pick with you. Today I had fully intended on visiting all of my regular blogs as well as some WW visiting… But no, I came here first and you turned me onto this blog “The Aftermath….” And now I have nearly a years worth of posts to read before I can visit any other blogs. Thank You!!

I don’t have experience with acupuncture. I only went to a chiropractor once. He showed me some stretches, that really help my back. I am not one for having my back cracked.
I recommend that you get a new bed. When I was pregnant with my first (4 years ago), my back started hurting me, so we bought a sleep number bed. (select comfort). it is the best investment we ever made. If you have a crappy mattress, change it.
P.S. If you want to make me something, that is wonderful. But do me a favor. Take care of your back!

Hi~ I also have scoliosis. I find that when I lift weights I am stronger and have no pain. If I go a few months without lifting, I can barely go to the mall, even in tennis shoes, because of pain. Works for me! I have it bad. Have had it my whole life. I have taken pain pills, Chiorpractic care etc. and found nothing works as well as lifting weights at the gym. I use all of the machines on light weight, 3 times a week, working everything every time. (Back, arms, legs, chest, neck, abs.) It only takes me 25 – 30 minutes. Good luck to you! Maybe Santa will bring you a new mattress for Christmas… 😉

Have you thought about physical therapy first? That is what I do for a living and I get people with your symptoms better all the time. I have a good friend in chiro and He sees his people forever. 2-3 x week for a month then 1-2 a month forever. In PT we usually treat you for 3-6 weeks and then educate you and teach exercises that you can do on your own. I usually get people better unless they are at a point that they need surgery anyway. Just a thought. Email me with questions if you want!
